WebInsertion is via the needle entering the vein, at which point a flashback should occur, the wire can then be advanced into the vein by sliding it down with the small proximal plastic tab. The dilator and catheter can then be fed along the wire. I personally find the arterial line version of these very fidgety to put in. But some people love them.
